Series 1 of record group 78-122 consists of hatchery files from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Division (and its predecessor, the Department of Conservation, Fish Division) for the years 1871-1976. Contains correspondence, memoranda, and reports involving the many aspects of Michigan's fishing industry. There are records documenting pond leases, warranty deeds, and land transfers between the state and private citizens. There are also detailed maps and drawings of state-operated hatcheries providing section, township and range information. One reports chronicles the survey of hatchery property in Harrisville, Michigan and includes maps, summaries of deeds and descriptions, plus fence and hydraulic information. Includes surveyors field notebooks of the Drayton Plains facility within Oakland County.
